The Power & Light district is a high-traffic, mixed-use district in the heart of downtown Kansas City. It is owned by The Cordish Companies and features several world-class restaurants, bars, live entertainment venues, and modern urban living spaces in a conveniently walkable area. Many of the storefronts in the area are covered in vinyl window wrap and signage supplied by companies like KC Window Film. During my time with them, I had the privilege of working with the district's events and operations crews on various installs.
What I Did
The two projects below are examples of challenging projects that demanded more attention-to-detail and production know-how to complete effectively. Original design assets were provided for both, but layout, production and install were all completed in-house by KC Window Film.

KC Live Catwalk
The KC Live! event space within Kansas City's Power & Light district features a plethora of signage. Two of the largest pieces in the area are attached to two, 25 foot wide catwalks on either side of the facility. The district facilities director wanted to update the 15 year old signage in an effort to freshen up the visuals and cover large gaps underneath the panels prior to the NCAA Wrestling Championships in March.
I quickly found this project to be a large undertaking due to the overall size of the panels, their elevated location and awkward angles due to the inconsistent slope of the catwalks. However, even with these challenges, I was able to use the imagery and text provided by the Miller and Coors Brewing companies to update the look and, in coordination with KC Window Film, managed production and assembly of the signage for both catwalks. The design was printed on standard vinyl and adhered to custom cut, 3mm Maxmetal panels.
